Papyrus Scripting for Beginners

①Read
②Meta

The Bethesda scripting language that powers quest logic, spell effects, and dynamic world events in TES/Fallout.

Papyrus is Bethesda's event-driven scripting language. It looks like a simplified Java, runs on a virtual machine, and powers everything from quest stages to magic effects. If you want your mod to do something dynamic — not just add items or change stats — you'll need Papyrus.

Events and Properties

Scripts attach to game objects and respond to events: OnInit(), OnHit(), OnActivate(). Properties let you wire up references in the Creation Kit GUI so scripts stay generic and reusable. Think of properties as dependency injection for game objects.
